
Dr. Richard Lange is the E. Cowles Andrus Professor of Cardiology and chief of clinical cardiology at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he also serves as associate director of the Research Center Training Program of the Donald W. Reynolds Cardiovascular Clinical Research Center. In addition to assisting Dr. Eduardo Marbán in the day-to-day clinical operations of the cardiology division at Hopkins, Lange leads research efforts into ischemic heart disease and adult congenital heart disease. A former intern and medical resident at Hopkins, he returned in 2004 after 18 years at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where he rose to the rank of professor and directed the cardiac catheterization laboratory and adult congenital heart disease clinic. There, Lange also distinguished himself with numerous teaching awards and honors, including the Jonsson Rogers Chair in cardiology and directorship of the Audrey and Bernard Rapoport Cardiovascular Center. While in Texas, he was chairman of the American Heart Association (AHA) Western Affiliates Research Committee and president of the Texas AHA affiliate. It was also at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School where Lange completed his fellowship in cardiology and earned his medical degree. He initially graduated with honors in biochemistry from the University of North Texas. |
