More and more people are developing allergy and asthma related problems. In fact, each year more than 50 million Americans suffer from allergic diseases. Ragweed, dander, dust mites, pollen, perfumes -- these are just a few of the irritants that can trigger an allergy or asthma attack. And while many people experience their worst symptoms during the high-pollen seasons of spring and summer, not all allergies are seasonal -- you can be affected by them all year long. At the Johns Hopkins Asthma & Allergy Center, physicians are developing new diagnostic and treatment procedures to alleviate these conditions. The center is located on the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center campus and combines clinics and research laboratories in a single building. This set-up of laboratories and out-patient clinics provides an excellent environment for conducting clinical and basic research in human immunology.
