Johns Hopkins Orthopaedics Hand Surgery Program

Johns Hopkins Orthopaedics Hand Surgery Program offers a comprehensive service complete with board certified hand surgeons, a full complement of occupational therapists, nurse practitioners and physician assistants who support patients from diagnosis to recovery.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a frequent condition and our surgeons specialize in mini-open and endoscopic carpal tunnel release to release pressure on the injured nerve. Smaller incision surgery frequently allows for a less painful and shorter recovery period and a faster return to work.

From trauma-type injuries to degenerative arthritis, Bayview surgeons treat all other types of hand problems. Distal radius, carpal (wrist) bones and finger fractures are routinely managed. "Trigger finger"; and other repetitive use tendon injuries are commonly assessed and treated. Micro surgical techniques are utilized to reattach extremities, repair damaged nerves, and revascularize damaged vessels in those patients in those patients with vascular problems. Reconstructing finger joints and addressing congenital abnormalities are among other routine procedures performed in our ambulatory care center.

Our staff is also happy to assist those patients who do not need surgery, but who need help in managing chronic hand and upper extremity pain.
