The Johns Hopkins Bayview Orthopaedic Clinic has sports medicine surgeons with extensive experience working with professional athletes as well as recreational athletes, and people who engage in general fitness programs.
Our comprehensive medical professional team escort patients from initial assessment all the way through recovery and rehabilitation. Nurse practitioners and physicians' assistants work with patients needing soft tissue pain management or suffering from minor sprains or inflammation. Bayview's top-notch surgeons address more severe injuries such as knee ligament tears or other injuries requiring surgery. Physical therapists are available to help recovering patients as they work top get up and running again. Stationed together in the new ambulatory care center, these caregivers have quick access to each other, leading to more efficient and effective injury treatment.
Bayview's sports medicine surgeons specialize in arthroscopic (minimally invasive) surgery, as well as open and mini-open procedures. While damage to the cartilage of the knee (meniscus) and torn shoulder ligaments comprise a majority of the injuries treated, our clinic staff routinely address other problems such as shoulder and ankle instabilities, rotator cuff injuries, sprains, inflammation and , of course sore muscles.
