Programs and Services

Department of Orthopaedic Surgery faculty members provide diagnostic and therapeutic services appropriate to the management of disorders of bones, joints and associated structures. These conditions include congenital or acquired musculoskeletal malfunctions, malalignments and defects. Treatment is available for bone and joint problems resulting from injuries, infections, tumors, nutritional or metabolic deficiencies, inherited characteristics, and aberrations in growth, development and aging.

Physical medicine and rehabilitation are the health care specialties focused on restoring the health and functional abilities of people after acute illness or injury such as stroke, spinal cord injuries, heart surgery, amputation, joint replacement, sports injuries or spinal disorders. The physicians and staff of this department are dedicated to advancing knowledge of effective physical medicine and rehabilitation therapies, and to delivering the best possible patient care. Working together, Johns Hopkins physiatrists, psychologists, nurses, therapists and scientists help our patients return to their highest levels of independent functioning.
