Biopsy -- Removal and analysis of tissue samples

Cholecystectomy -- Surgical removal of the gallbladder

Colposcope -- Magnifying instrument for viewing the inside of the vagina and the cervix

Conjunctivitis -- Inflammation of the lining of the eyelids and the membrane covering the whites of the eyes

Cryosurgery -- procedure in which genital warts are removed by applying liquid nitrogen, which freezes and thus destroys warts

Electromyogram (EMG) -- Tests the conduction of electrical impulses along the nerves

Encephalitis -- Infection of the brain

German measles (Rubella) -- A contagious viral infection; neither as severe nor as contagious as measles, another rash-producing viral infection.

HIV --  Human immunodeficiency virus

Hyperventilation -- Rapid, shallow breathing

Kaposi's sarcoma -- Outbreaks of skin rashes or discolorations, especially purplish lesions

Lumbar puncture --  Spinal tap

Meninges -- The three thin layers of tissue that cover the brain.

Neuromuscular blockers -- Drugs that block nerve-to-muscle signals

Pap smear -- A test in which a small sample of cells is scraped from the cervix

Rubeola (Measles) -- A highly contagious viral infection that primarily affects the respiratory tract.

Thrombocytopenia -- Low amount of platelets in the blood

Thrush -- Fungal infection in the mouth

Tracheostomy  -- The implantation of a breathing tube through a surgical opening in the throat

Urethra -- The conduit in the penis that carries urine and sperm

Urethritis -- Infection marked by inflammation of the urethra
