Family and Couples Therapy Clinic

 Director: Stuart Tiegel, M.S.W.

The Family and Couples Therapy Clinic is an outpatient service provided on Thursdays from 9am to 12 noon weekly. The format is one in which PGY 3 residents are supervised live through a one-way mirror format. Supervision is provided by Stuart Tiegel, M.S.W. who is a Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Mr. Tiegel is an Assistant Professor at both Hopkins and University of Maryland Medical Schools.

Families are seen regardless of presenting problems and the emphasis is on solving the problems presented. Patients can be referred from other Hopkins staff or faculty, the Faculty and Student Assistance Program or any other source including the Emergency Department or Inpatient Services.

  • Research projects can emerge based on Residents' interests.
  • Medical students are welcome for rotations or internships.

Appointments are best made through the Administrative Resident in the Outpatient Department or the OPD staff. We will see any combinations of family members including couples or extended families.
