The Special Needs Clinic located on the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center campus provides comprehensive mental health services for adults with major mental illness and mental subnormality or developmental disability. The program was designed to meet the unique and complex needs of this patient population and is committed to providing expert assessment and treatment. A multidisciplinary team consisting of psychiatrists, nurse, mental health and social work therapists, case manager, and psychiatric rehabilitation therapists staff the clinic. Patients must be over 18 years of age and have a major psychiatric illness and mental subnormality/developmental disability. Patients with a history of multiple or lengthy hospitalizations will also be considered for evaluation. Mental subnormality or developmental disability must be documented prior to age 22. - Evaluation and consultation
