Johns Hopkins Health  NewsFeed

Health NewsFeed is a fully digital medical audio news and text service. It's heard on several hundred radio stations in the United States and Canada and overseas through the Voice of America. Downloadable .wav files are posted here and also by other Internet content providers.

Visit the archive to select the news you want to hear.

Health NewsFeed is produced in the Johns Hopkins Medicine Office of Communications and Public Affairs.

Health NewsFeed features 60-second radio news reports on medicine, including interviews with Hopkins experts. It also offers "sound bites" of Hopkins newsmakers for use by radio stations who wish to produce their own health news programming.

Health NewsFeed covers the broad spectrum of medicine, health and medical research. Topics are chosen for their scientific importance but also for their relevance to the lay public. Every Health NewsFeed strives to answer the question "What does this mean to me, the listener?"

Health NewsFeed features physicians, scientists and experts in all medical disciplines talking about their work, their discoveries and the scientific advances that will make the world a healthier place. Our interests range from geriatrics to pediatrics and all points in between.

Health NewsFeed is distributed by satellite and an innovative toll-free phone network that provides CD-quality sound over ordinary telephone lines. The programs are fed by satellite each Friday at 11 a.m. Eastern Time on USATCOM C5, Transponder 23, SEDAT channel 12.

Stations equipped with Switched 56 ISDN equipment can dial 1-800-MEDRADIO and be automatically connected to the Health NewsFeed distribution system, which plays back a full week's worth of programs for your production staff to record. A dialup phone feed is available at 1-800-992-2010 or 410-614-9155.

Because of its flexibility and unique design, Health NewsFeed will reach more radio listeners nationwide. Since programmers are not tied to a specific feed time, they can retrieve the feeds when they want them, and air them when their audiences need them most.
