Health NewsFeed is a fully digital medical audio news and text service. It's heard on several hundred radio stations in the United States and Canada and overseas through the Voice of America. Health NewsFeed features 60-second radio news reports on medicine, including interviews with Hopkins experts. It also offers "sound bites" of Hopkins newsmakers for use by radio stations who wish to produce their own health news programming. Health NewsFeed covers the broad spectrum of medicine, health and medical research. Topics are chosen for their scientific importance but also for their relevance to the lay public. Every Health NewsFeed strives to answer the question "What does this mean to me, the listener?" Health NewsFeed features physicians, scientists and experts in all medical disciplines talking about their work, their discoveries and the scientific advances that will make the world a healthier place. Health NewsFeed is distributed by satellite and an innovative toll-free phone network that provides CD-quality sound over ordinary telephone lines. The programs are fed by satellite each Friday at 11 a.m. Eastern Time on USATCOM C5, Transponder 23, SEDAT channel 12. Stations equipped with Switched 56 ISDN equipment can dial 1-800-MEDRADIO and be automatically connected to the Health NewsFeed distribution system, which plays back a full week's worth of programs for your production staff to record.
